Slapton Ley Nature Reserve is the largest freshwater lake
in South West England just across the road from the At The
Beach complex. Slapton Ley has wonderful panoramic views
of Start Bay. Recent sightings include: Balearic Shearwater
Bittern Cirl Bunting Common Scoter Gull-billed tern Hobby
Kingfisher Marsh Harrier Mediterranean gull Sandwich tern
Dormouse Otter Stoat Black tailed skimmer Broad bodied chaser
Emperor dragonfly Beautiful demoiselle. Slapton Ley in South
Devon is the largest natural freshwater lake in the South
West of England. The 1.5 mile lake is within a National
Nature Reserve and a Site of Special Scientific Interest
because of the habitat and the rare species which thrive
in the unique conditions
